Friday night, I gleaned some fantastic vintage, vintage-style and top-end-high-street items without spending a penny! Cat, friend, old uni drinking buddy, ex flatmate and fashion queen was having a clear out. I would have taken photos whilst at her house but I took her wine and it did not end in an entirely civilised manner. A big thank you to my generous friend and her wardrobe clearing habits! The next day I looked rough as a badger's backside so there are no face pictures in this post, you all know I'm shy anyway when it comes to pictures of me. This is mainly down to the possibility you might recognise me from such antics as 'feed Perdita peanuts' outside an Old St boozer and the like, which would be a bit shameful. To be fair, His Lordship bought the peanuts with the best intentions, it just seemed a good idea at the time as I was having a strange post-wine 'don't liiike peanuts' hissy fit. I love peanuts really. The KP ones with chilli crisp on the outside are best.

What a haul!
Oops. Same size as the bag I took to Barnardo's last week. |
Much hilarity ensued from the fact that in spite of us both being roughly the same high-street clothes size, Cat is taller than me. As in tall enough to be a model- and I'm barely tall enough to get on the big rides at Thorpe Park. I was loving one particular maxi - Cat started to crack up... it wasn't a maxi, it was a midi for taller folk than I. Dur.

Cute Coast shrug- fabulous seed-pearl detailing... |

Subtle sparkle.
I know what sparkle means.
I had to look up 'subtle' in the dictionary: it's a new concept. |
|
Scalloped-edge midi, rather 20s style (hence the silly dance).
Check out those milkbottle legs! |
Hope you are all having a fantastic weekend! I must admit I was expecting this post to be one of my more thoughtful ones on how two people with the same style can be either confident and open or point-scoring and rules-obsessed. Heavy stuff. Not as heavy as that cheap-ass wine I imbibed on Friday night, unfortunately my head is not up to anything too intelligent today.
Huzzah, for generous friends!
ReplyDeleteI love the 80s halter top.
xXx
I love your freebies, what a fab friend. Subtle doesn't rank as one of my oft-used words either.
ReplyDeleteCheap ass wine? Is there any other sort? xxx
Marvellous!
ReplyDeleteI love that dress.xxx
Aw I love a piece or two from a friend. The halter top is awesomeness itself! xx
ReplyDeleteoh my, what a haul.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely friend to have!
ReplyDeletesuch a good idea - and all for free! Hurrah!
ReplyDeleteNow that is a good friend, love the scallped skirt!
ReplyDeleteLove freebies!
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your comment on my Gilda post, I would definitely have the cherry ones...but then again, I would say that :)
Hi there-lovely gifts from your friend, love the 60s style dress xxx
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post which was good fun. Loved the photos too.
ReplyDeleteNice scores, blossom!! I'm particularly enamoured with the 80's halter top too!The lurexy ginham is scrummy! The 60's style frock is rather smashing-gagging to see you rock it,esp if you can summon up a peanut hissy fit!
ReplyDeleteI often think I should/could get all thoughtful and then I get sidetracked by my inability to do so.......
xxx
Oh, jealous! None of my friends are the same size as me, and I don't really share the same sort of taste in clothes with most of them, so I'm clearly destined never to come with home with a bag of loveliness like that one.
ReplyDeleteahhh the joy of same-sized and generous friends. My best friend is a man, so that doesn't help...and none of my girl friends or sister are my size...so not so much fun there. But my sis and I have the same gigantic feet which makes for some shoe-swapping now and then ;)
ReplyDeletewow great freebies what fabulous friends you have x
ReplyDeleteHooray for freebies! Now if most of my friends weren't male football fans I might have someone to swap some clothes with!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a fantastic weekend, I just dropped off a bag full of clothes to a charity shop the other day. A similar size to your H&M bag, it was a H&M bag in fact. Some of the shirts I was dropping off were pretty much brand new they just no longer fit me. When ever I go looking for bargains in vintage shops and charity shops I never find anything, but then again I don't really put much effort in. Fast food culture has made me want stuff straight away with out having to but any work in.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab friend indeed! The "not a maxi" thing is soooo funny (would be the same on me!)X
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely pal you have! And it was nice to meet you and the chap last night at Margarets! x
ReplyDeleteYou'll look great in all of that. I particularly love the skirt. Your legs can't be whiter than mine, it's not possible. And I agree they are the best peanuts! xx
ReplyDeleteNicely done! I tend to be the giver, rather than the givee, unfortunately, which solves the problem of having to cart bags of stuff to the charity shop, but isn't anywhere near as exciting. I'd love to pretend that it's enough to feel the satisfaction of seeing someone else enjoy your clothes, but I'd be lying. I want free stuff too!!!
