New Time Eater: Youtube Recipes

How are we all? I don't know about you, but I'm all celebrated out. Pooped. I could go back to work for a rest after four days of visiting, partying, flag waving and so forth. And the food... suffice to say if I so much as sniff another mini sausage roll or lick some buttercream bad things will happen.

Cheers.

Pre-slippers and knackerdness
So I am here, dressed in my finest fluffy pink slippers, engaged in my new addiction; the Youtube recipe channels. Yes, the retro recipe collector has tumbled headlong into the twenty first century! Whilst there are many, many channels out there a few have become my absolute favourites because they are simple, clear and the recipes are useful. I enjoy the interactivity of Youtube as well, people can ask their 'TV chef' questions or post comments and variations. It's all so helpful. Without further ado, here are my top picks from youtube chefdom:

The One Pot Chef

His recipes are homely, simple and (as his name suggests) don't require masses of equipment or expertise. There's nothing wildly exotic about these but that's where the appeal lies, to me. Chances are you can make something off this channel in half an hour with the contents of your fridge. I also find the way he chuckles with glee when a recipe comes out well really cheerful!

The Simple Cooking Channel

The man makes home-made Nutella. Come on.

RecipeCook

This one has more complex ideas, and is the Youtube channel of Rita Nader of AboutEating.com. The recipes are still pretty simple, however the channel has some unusual elements such as edible flowers!

So what do you use YouTube for? Any useful channels to swear by... or is it all about the comedy animals for you?

  1. I'd never have thought of searching YouTube for recipe advice, mind you I'm supposed to be a qualified chef so perhaps I should do my own! x

  2. I spend way too much time watching comedy songs on YouTube - but as this doesn't feed my family perhaps I should check out a new avenue!

  8. I've got to be honest, I had no idea there was such a thing as a you tube channel. I'm not sure if I am ready for them, either! I have only just decided that it's better to look recipes up on line rather than keep buying cook books....!
