Ouchy

Mr Bump was my favourite Mr Man; it must be empathy. I was going to sally forth and do some shopping and pub reviewing today, but I have been laid low by my own stupidity. Instead I shall post about my misadventures and give you a couple of recent accessory moments I actually remembered to snap.

Me last week with (safe) snacks,
looking slightly rockabilly with my red
cardie and skull necklace.
Yesterday evening, we were sitting at home watching the boxing. We had beers, we had snacks. Both were running low. Up I jump like an idiot and hot foot it across the living room in search of the snack-laden fridge. What I forgot was that we had moved an extra chair into the room, and I tripped straight over it and literally flew into our 6 foot bookcase. For a moment, apparently, my husband and sister-in-law watched agog as it started to tip. I could have been killed by flat-pack furniture and a collection of tacky 70s cook books. What a way to go! Luckily, it rocked back into place. And I shouted 'Uurgh, there's blood in my hair, innit!'. This caused some panic in the room. I on the other hand was more worried about my new headscarf getting stained - for about 30 seconds before the massive wave of OOOWWWWWWW hit.

It's a nice scarf! From Poppy Valentine...
hair tutorial from Alternatively Lovely.

Luckily the source of the blood was a nick in my ear, and not a big hole in my head. His Lordship went to a boys' school where ear chewing sports like Rugby were the norm so patched it up then suggested I got to A&E, and I had a massive strop (I don't like hospitals, least of all when I am the one being prodded and poked). So after some deliberation, we telephoned NHS direct who advised us that if I didn't appear to be concussed, I was OK to stay home. Husband is still cross and says I should have gone to A&E. In the morning, I found that as well as a bloody ear, I have a swollen knee and bruised arm, but I appear to be no more dazed, confused and forgetful than normal so it's nothing some ibuprofen and a cold pack can't sort.

Hence, I have no exciting pursuits to report today, as I am being forced to rest up. Thank goodness for Penny Dreadful's round-up of weekly web treasures, is all I can say. I can browse vicariously. The danger is, soon I might well get very bored and start hitting Ebay...danger! Danger! You've damaged your thrift gland Perdita...

  8. Glad you've only contributed to the injuries stats and not the deaths that yahoo does a story about every year - 97 people injured by socks! 9 people killed by toasters, 1 person killed by cookery books etc!

  15. Oh no! That sounds scary! I hope you feel better soon! I actually fell over in my office a week or so ago and my left shoulder rammed into a corner of a desk. I still have a bruise the size of an apple. It's healing but it's still so ugly!

I love that red cardi! Fabulous colour!

  16. Owww!! Hope you're on the mend now. My injuries tend to be bruises - the door handles in this house are out to get me, I'm convinced of it.
